Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire is a county in the East of England and borders Cambridgeshire to the northeast, Northamptonshire to the north, Buckinghamshire to the west and Hertfordshire to the southeast. It has a population of 617,000 people. The first recorded use of the name in 1011 was “Bedanfordscir,” meaning the shire or county of Bedford. The River Great Ouse is navigable through the town and every two years hosts a River Festival which is the second largest free event in the UK (after Notting Hill Carnival). Cardington Hangars were once the home station for the R101 airship as well as the Goodyear blimp in more recent years. They have also been used as film sets and have appeared in “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, “Inception” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.
